Fields of Mistria Beginner Guide: First Week Priorities

Follow this Fields of Mistria beginner guide to balance crops, fishing, requests, museum donations, tools, bag space, and early story unlocks.

Quick facts

Early bridge cost

High-value routine
Talk, request, donate, then farm
Rainy-day focus
Fishing, quests, gathering

Keep the first crop field small, check the Request Board, save useful museum finds, and spend early money on seeds, a fishing rod, tool progression, and bag space before cosmetics. Use rainy days for fishing, quests, and gathering because the farm is watered for free.

Keep the first farm small

The first week is easier when the farm supports the rest of the game instead of replacing it. A manageable crop field creates income without taking every morning, leaving time for requests, fishing, foraging, museum donations, and story errands.

Fast-growing starter crops are useful because they can return cash before the first week is over. Regrowing crops become more attractive once their higher seed cost is affordable. There is no need to clear and plant every available tile while you are still learning the town.

Spend early money on time

Prioritize seeds, a fishing rod, tool progression, and inventory space before decorative spending. Copper tools matter because charged actions cover more tiles, reducing repetitive morning work rather than simply increasing a number on the tool.

Bag space is valuable because the game quickly gives you fish, forageables, ore, artifacts, gifts, and quest materials at the same time. Carrying more of those items makes it easier to combine errands instead of returning home after every short trip.

Check requests and the museum

The Request Board should be part of the daily routine. Requests can pay out while also contributing to Town Renown, so they are useful for both immediate rewards and broader town progression.

Museum donations work the same way: the first copy of a fish, bug, artifact, or plant may be worth more as progress than as a sale. Hold onto promising first finds until you know whether they belong in the museum.

Use weather to change your schedule

Rain changes the best use of a day. If the weather waters the farm for free, spend that saved time on fishing, quests, gathering, or another progression goal. The efficient schedule is not identical every day; it reacts to weather and the current objective.

The same principle applies to story quests. Repairing the bridge and restoring the mill unlock more usable systems than spending the same resources on furniture. Build the routine around access and time savings first, then decorate when the farm feels easier to manage.

Tip

Copper tools are useful because charged actions cover more tiles and reduce repetitive morning work.

Note

Decorative furniture does not unlock systems, while early tool and inventory upgrades make the wider day easier to manage.
