Start by meeting the town, opening museum donations, getting the Worn Pickaxe from Olric, and saving 60 Wood plus 60 Stone for the Eastern Road bridge. Keep your first farm manageable while combining crops with requests, shipping, fishing, and donations.
Prioritize the opening progression
The opening is a progression chain, not a farm-only routine. The early story introduces the town, tools, museum donations, bridge repair, requests, and Town Renown before the Mines become a major part of the schedule.
The first sequence has practical consequences. Meeting townsfolk and opening the museum loop gives you more ways to turn ordinary finds into progress. Olric provides the Worn Pickaxe, while the Eastern Road bridge for Adeline needs 60 Wood and 60 Stone. Keep those materials available instead of selling or spending them without a plan.
Keep the first farm manageable
A small crop field is enough to create a reliable income stream while you learn the rest of the game. Clearing and planting everything at once leaves less time for requests, fishing, foraging, museum donations, and story errands.
Fast crops can create money before the first week is over. Regrowing crops become more attractive once the higher seed cost is manageable. The useful goal is not a perfect farm on day one; it is a routine that earns money without consuming every morning.
Use requests and donations for Renown
The Request Board is progression content, not a side activity to ignore. Requests, shipping, museum donations, and town story quests all feed Town Renown. Renown opens town ranks, upgrades, shops, and later content, so the same item can be more valuable as a request or donation than as a sale.
Check requests regularly and hold onto useful first copies of fish, bugs, artifacts, and plants until you know whether they belong in the museum. This keeps early progress moving without requiring a huge farm.
How the wider game loop fits together
Fields of Mistria expands into farming, fishing, mining, cooking, crafting, blacksmithing, ranching, archaeology, skills, magic, relationships, and town restoration. These systems support one another rather than living in separate lanes.
Farming creates income and ingredients. Fishing fills spare stamina and museum slots. Mining provides ore, gems, Essence-related resources, artifacts, and story progress, while crafting and blacksmithing turn those materials into better tools and equipment. Town Renown unlocks more progression, and relationships eventually lead into dating, proposals, marriage, and children.
Existing Early Access saves carry into version 1.0. Many achievements can also unlock retroactively from work already completed, so returning players do not need to abandon a save just because the full-release systems are now active.
Tip
Treat the first copy of a fish, bug, artifact, or plant as a possible museum donation before selling it.
Note
Older Early Access guides can be wrong about the heart cap, marriage, children, and completed town progression.
