Fields of Mistria Water Chestnut: Location & Uses

If you need Water Chestnuts, go to The Narrows and search along the water near Errol's Cabin. They are wild forageables in Spring, Summer, and Fall, do not grow as a normal crop, and have a base sell value of 5 Tesserae. Winter has no wild Water Chestnuts.

Where to find Water Chestnuts

Water Chestnuts are forageables found along the shoreline in The Narrows near Errol's Cabin. Search the waterline rather than looking for a tall crop; the small sprouts are easy to walk past.

Why Juniper's request matters

Juniper's Spring request asks for two Water Chestnuts. If that is the reason you are searching, collect both before leaving The Narrows. Completing the request rewards the Water Chestnut Fritters recipe and 20 Renown.

Juniper also Likes Water Chestnut Fritters, which is separate from the raw Water Chestnuts used in the request. March Dislikes raw Water Chestnut, so do not treat the forageable as a universal gift.

Can you get Water Chestnuts elsewhere?

The Narrows is the normal source. Balor's Wagon can have Water Chestnuts in its rotating stock for 25 Tesserae, but the item is not guaranteed to appear. Check the wagon as a backup rather than waiting on it as the main route.

After repairing the Beach Bridge, the Fish Trap can also produce 2-4 Water Chestnuts or 2-4 Seaweed as filler. The trap route has no time or weather requirement, but its ocean-fish category still follows fish season rules. See the Fishing Guide for the full trap breakdown.

What are Water Chestnuts used for?

Water Chestnuts are used in requests, cooking, milling, and the Fish Trap filler pool.

Cooking uses

• Fried Rice: Water Chestnut x1, Rice, Chicken Egg, Carrot, Peas, and Soy Sauce.
• Sauteed Snow Peas: Water Chestnut x1 and Snow Peas. The Snow Peas recipe comes from shipping Snow Peas.
• Spicy Water Chestnuts: Water Chestnut x2 and Chili Pepper x1; Cooking 6, Kitchen 1, 20 minutes, sells for 90 Tesserae. The recipe comes from shipping Chili Pepper.
• Trail Mix: Water Chestnut x2 and Wild Berries; a starting recipe at Cooking 1, 20 minutes, sells for 12 Tesserae.
• Water Chestnut Fritters: Water Chestnut x2, Flour, and Oil; Cooking 12, Kitchen 1, 30 minutes, sells for 240 Tesserae. This is the Juniper request recipe, and Juniper Likes the finished fritters.

The Mill, unlocked through Mill Restoration, uses Water Chestnuts in six animal-feed recipes:

• Quality Small Animal Feed: Grass Seed x1 and Water Chestnut x1.
• Deluxe Large Animal Feed: Hay x1, Water Chestnut x1, and Acorn x1.
• Deluxe Small Animal Feed: Grass Seed x1, Water Chestnut x1, and Acorn x1.
• Ultimate Large Animal Feed: Hay x1, Water Chestnut x1, Acorn x1, and Seaweed x1.
• Ultimate Small Animal Feed: Grass Seed x1, Water Chestnut x1, Acorn x1, and Seaweed x1.
