Enter the Ancient Ruins and check floors 81-99. The Ancient Ruins are the late Mines biome, so surface maps and the first four biomes will not produce this bug.

Ancient Firefly uses
An Ancient Firefly can be sold for 40 Tesserae, donated to the Museum, or placed in a Terrarium. Keep one before selling duplicates because it is also an ingredient in the Dragon-Forged Core.
Keep one for the Dragon Forge
The Dragon-Forged Core is a late Mines crafting item. Saving the first Ancient Firefly avoids having to return to the Ancient Ruins when the Core recipe becomes available.
